Select the correct purpose when applying for K-ETA

When applying for the K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization), one of the most important steps is selecting the right purpose of visit.
Although it may seem simple, choosing incorrectly can lead to delays, rejection, or even entry denial at the airport.
Here's how to make the right choice, clearly and confidently.

  • Tourism

If you're visiting Korea for sightseeing, meeting friends or family, or exploring Korean culture, select “Tourism.”
This is the most common choice for general travelers.

  • Business

If you’re attending business meetings, conferences, or signing contracts, choose “Business.”
Note: This does not include paid work or employment in Korea.

  • Transit

If Korea is just a stopover on your way to another country, select “Transit.”
Be prepared to show proof of your onward ticket.

  • Medical Treatment

For short-term medical checkups, consultations, or treatments, choose “Medical Treatment.”
This may include aesthetic procedures or health-related visits.

  • Short-term Events

Attending workshops, cultural events, or short educational programs? Select “Short-term Events.”
This is the right choice for temporary, non-degree activities.

Choosing the right purpose is essential.
Even small errors or vague answers may result in rejection or require reapplication.
Be accurate, honest, and clear about your travel plans.

If you’re unsure or applying for K-ETA for the first time, we recommend using ETAPORTAL
where Korean visa experts help make the process faster and smoother, increasing your chances of approval.
