Fabulous Building and Interior. every corners are awesome. and specially loved Breakfast place and dinner restaurant. garden was just pretty. the Bar was very politician friendly style bar. love to take photos as they are great background.
HOWEVER.. Food quality was hm.... it was not the quality that I thought from building interior. even Dinner was just okay level. and They MUST do something with Coffee. taste like just burned too much. old beans..maybe? there is way better restaurant around the building. I recommend you must go there next streets.(just a block away)
and Room size was too small. and bathroom was small. I understand this was historic building. it is hard to make bigger space.
Service was perfect. everyone was very friendly. I visited there when was my birthday. they brought a little cake for birthday. I was biz trip that time. it was great little treat from their service.

Lovely grand hotel with a rich history. Rooms are good size and well appointed. The TV did not work upon arrival although service fixed it the next day. Channels are limited. Free water bottles and good shampoo products are available in room. Breakfast buffet is good but room can be busy, creating a short queue.

STUNNING! From the history to the architecture to the rooms to the service, not a beat was missed. This is what I imagine when I want luxury accommodations. The highlights were the plaques placed throughout explaining the history of everything down to the mail chute. The staff was top tier. The valet and bellmen where characters and so fun to chat with - the front desk made check-in easy. I appreciated that they took the time to remember my name and used it throughout my stay. It made everything feel more personal. Housekeeping and room service also went above an beyond.
Beyond that the location is perfect for getting around the city. Very close to the Trolley and safety wise the area was good. (for what you can reasonably expect in a city of this size).

As hotel guests, you are supposed to reserve a table for breakfast on the weekend. Unfortunately, nobody informed us beforehand, and this is the first time I have encountered such a bizarre policy at a 'Luxury Collection' hotel. While we were waiting(circa 15-20min), more than half of the tables were unoccupied. The situation remained the same once we were seated and had dined. Additionally, there was no fresh-squeezed orange juice; it was served from a plastic package.

We had a wonderful recent experience at the Palace Hotel -- not only is the hotel beautiful and historic, but the service is exceptional. We arrived for check-in as a nearby parade was getting set-up (resulting in a number of road closures). The valets kinda came to get our bags and car from a block away! At check-in they upgraded us to a truly palatial Palace Suite (we could have hosted a party for 30 people in the living room!) and dinner at the Pied Piper was delicious and even included some extra chocolate dipped strawberries. The breakfast buffet the next morning at the Garden Court was tasty and fresh, with many options (and a better value than many other brunch places in SF). We can't wait to be back!
