Great!
The place in general wasn’t too bad. Staff were lovely and very helpful. It is just the building in general seems to be very dated. It was clean tidy and made me feel reasonably comfortable and secure. The pool is quite large however like a few others have mentioned before the water feels quite cold.

Worst.
My friends and I decided to spend the day by the pool while waiting for the evening flight. From the moment you enter the hotel, there is a strange atmosphere - I have visited many places in the world - for the first time I saw that to enter a hotel you have to have your luggage scanned - just like at the airport. It only got worse. While sitting at the pool, we were constantly attacked by the hotel staff, we felt like intruders from the very beginning. First, we had to show our entrance ticket (no wonder...), then the waiter told us to pay for the orders immediately, even though we wanted to order drinks later, so we wanted to leave the bill open - we felt like thieves. There were no showers in the bathrooms where you could rinse off after the pool - only open showers by the pool where everyone could observe each other. At the end, my friend wanted to eat the biscuit - of course the waiter came and forbade us. Whatever we did, everything was bad. We couldn't relax and enjoy the day because of this staff. Another time we were in Bangkok for a whole day by the pool - and it was great. I don't recommend this hotel!!!

Perfect!
Very nice property, which is vast. Good facilities and good service. I had written a few instructions in a slip and left my room. It was done exactly as requested. Good service by Sally of House Keeping. Staffs are courteous. Thank you. 711 stores available in both side of the road.

Perfect!
Stayed at the Shangri-La in Feb/March. Beautiful hotel, close to the night market and about a 25 min walk to the centre of old Chiang Mai. Lovely to have a swimming pool to cool off in at the end of a hot sight-seeing day. Breakfast buffet was outstanding, so many different options, spoke to one of the chefs one morning and he was telling us where they sourced their food - most of it locally. We had a room overlooking the pool, definitely recommend. All staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble.

Worst.
terrible service, harassed us throughout our stay at the pool and made us pay for everything at once even though we wanted to pay at the end. The staff didn't let us sleep peacefully, they always wanted something from us and disturbed us. we wanted to order something to eat, but we didn't do it because they treated us like thieves. it was so tragic that it was funny, the staff were literally constantly watching us, I went to the edge of the pool with a beer and they immediately told me to leave, my friend took out a cookie and they told her to hide it because she wasn't allowed to eat it. they barely spoke English. Sick place, 0/5 stars!!!
