Perfect!
A Must-Try Culinary Experience in Gangneung! When visiting Gangneung, there's one culinary gem you absolutely cannot miss—Chodang Dubu Village. Located on the picturesque east coast of Korea, this village contained many restaurants renowned for its exceptional Sundubu (fresh tofu) soup. Unlike anywhere else, Gangneung takes pride in serving tofu that is both exceptionally fresh and delightfully soft. Prepared with a generous blend of seafood, this Sundubu is an exquisite treat, bursting with freshness and flavor. At Chodang Dubu Village, you have the choice of indulging in either the set menu 정식 (15,000 won) or savoring the Sundubu on its own (12,000 won). Trust me when I say, the taste is simply divine! ?

Perfect!
Chodang Sundubu Village is a place where they serve their soft, milky and delicious tofu. There are many restaurants to choose from but I was told that this one is the oldest and the most popular. You can tell they are popular with the long lines outside.

Great!
Chodang Sundubu Village is famous for Sundubu (fresh tofu). The name of this village, Chodang, originates from the name of Chodang-Heoyeop. Heoyeop was the public officer of Joseon Dynasty era and also he is the father of Heo-gyun and Heonan-seolheon. He used spring water and salt water from the East Sea to make Sundubu. It was hard to get solid salt at that time because there's no salt pond near here. The Sundubu tasted good, and he named it Chodang Sundubu using his pen name "Chodang". After it came out to the public officer community that he ran a business, he was blamed. Because Joseon Dynasty believed in Confucianism and despised commercial activity. Anyway, it's the origin of today's Chodang Sundubu. It says it's Chodang Sundubu "village" but it's rather like restaurant area. I won't recommend to visit a restaurant that the largest number of people go, because the food they sell is quite similar. So just avoid going to the restaurants with too many people or with too low grades. (The green mark with number in the picture shows the location of restaurants)
