Review
Was diverted with no alternative provided as "the hotel lot was full." Called the hotel, asked the front desk where I should park if the lot was full. Response was "oh the lot is full" so I had to reiterate my short question: where should I park if the lot is full? Parking took a good 30 minutes.
Went to front desk to check in, employee asked if I had received the check in waitlist Kakaotalk message. I responded I had not, as no employees had prompted me on this. I shared my Korean number and asked if I could get a text as I did not have Kakao. Employee shared that there was no alternative and suggested I tour the department store next door and come back in an hour or so as there were 40 parties in front of me in the checkin queue.
I never thought I'd be writing a review on an Autograph collection hotel even before I checked in but here we are.

I had a great stay at this hotel.
The location is fantastic, it's connected to a large premium department store.
Food was good as well, the breakfast buffet was on par with other 5 star hotels I've stayed at.
Staff was nice and helpful,
Rooms were comfortable.
Marriot bonvoy status was recognized and we were upgraded.
5/5

Very nice hotel. Wonderful view of Daejeon (if you have rooms facing the river). The hotel rooms are all high floors and have good sound proof. There is an indoor pool and a big gym. There is a atarbucks next door at 38th floor. The shopping mall is connected.

I was very excited to visit this hotel but was let down in almost every single way. I've stayed at many 5 star hotels in Korea and across the world, and this is most definitely not on par with any of them. It is a medicore 4 star hotel at best with a pretentious attitude. From a global perspective, the pricing is quite competitive. However, for the local market, the hotel doesn't deserve the high price it commands.
Pros:
- The rooms are new so they're modern and in good shape.
- The bedding is excellent.
- Our room (city-facing) had a great view.
- The porters on the 1F were kind and attentive.
Cons:
- The hotel front desk staff and management were lackluster and many didn't have a good command of English. Their attitude in Korean was no better. There was basically no welcome at all when we got to the front desk. They also bizarrely asked if my wife and I were together despite us clearly standing next to each other and us having a reservation for two.
- The room AC was finicky and is actually centrally controlled despite having a control panel in the room. When we arrived, the outdoor temp was 30C+ and the room was 26C and kept getting hotter all night despite being set to cool at the lowest setting. The mini fridge in the room doesn't really get cool either.
- The building has a confusing and inefficient elevator system that is always crowded. In most cases you must wait a long time for one elevator, only to get off and wait a long time for another elevator, all while constant crowds of people try to shove their way past you.
- Speaking of crowds, this place is constantly crowded everywhere! Long lines to check in, to check out, to get on the elevators, to try to find a parking spot, to get a cup of coffee, etc. Don't expect a relaxing experience at any step of the way.

Stayed a week. Hotel is brand new, clean, comfortable, and quiet. Phenomenal views of Daejeon from the room. Also some of the best breakfast buffet options I’ve seen in a hotel. Lunch and dinner was equally enjoyable. Heated pool and jacuzzi on the upper deck, which was welcoming during my winter stay. I slept really well here, the bed/linens are quality. Nice shower as well.
