I stayed here over the course of six weeks and I had a pleasant experience each week. I enjoyed the historic building and how it was preserved and modernized while maintaining classic charm. The rooms were the perfect size and had everything you need. They were always clean and comfortable. The employees were always helpful and friendly. I stayed in a different room each week, and I found that I preferred the non-city view rooms, as they were quieter than rooms facing open areas with busy streets. The city view room I paid extra for one week didn’t even have a view of the interesting parts of Philly (i.e. City Hall) but was instead on the back of the building overlooking the neighboring Marriott, and the room only had one very small window. The restaurant in the hotel left much to be desired. I ordered a chocolate lava cake for $12, and it was the same, if not worse, than the frozen ones from Trader Joe’s, and it had a small dollop of canned whipped cream. Luckily, the hotel’s location is good and there are many restaurants nearby to go instead. Valet parking is very expensive and the area where cars enter/exit is very small, often leaving you trapped behind parked cars when you’re trying to leave. The valet parking pricing is also inconsistent; I paid the normal price one week to park my small SUV rental, and the next week, they said I was being charged the oversized vehicle fee for a car the exact same size. It can also take up to 45 minutes to get your car from valet, so plan ahead!

Arrived at 2 am and there was no doorman. Maybe I have too high expectations of a 4-star autograph hotel. Was given a room on the 2nd floor when my Marriott account says high-floor preference. The next day I asked for a higher floor and the hotel cheerfully provided it. Elite breakfast is included-$45 total. That provided two drinks and two large breakfasts. I enjoyed the breakfast flatbread with peso, greens, sun dried tomatoes and more. Rooms were in pretty good shape although you can see some wear and tear on the furniture. Location is great, especially if you can get a view of city hall. Also room was not as quiet as I would have liked. One night even with white noise it sounded like a herd of baby elephants was above me. And guests kept closing their doors really loudly. Please don’t just let the door slam shut but close it all the way quietly ??

This hotel is lovely but the service and amenities are not. I have had a 2 night stay. The hotel charges a $25 entertainment fee which they say is a credit at their restaurant. They also give two drink tokens for sangria in the restaurant as well. Twice I made attempts to go to their restaurant and although it has a lunch menu posted, it was not open for lunch. I’m not a wine drinker so the tokens could be used for coffee. But only black regular coffee. Which doesn’t seem equal to a sangria but oh well. So in order to use the $25 credit I ordered room service breakfast at 7:15 am. Was told my coffee and two fruit parfaits would be 15 min. An hour later I am still waiting and now have to leave for my conference. Very disappointed in the amenities and service here

The location is incredible. So much transit to get you anywhere and in the heart of it all. The hotel itself is historic and beautiful. The rooms are fine - clean and small. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

Great location, pretty lobby, otherwise entirely unremarkable and overpriced. The destination fee seems somewhat petty. Given there is another Marriott property directly across the street with comparable rooms, near identical, location, and often better service, it feels like a stretch for this to be considered such a special hotel and the price really is hard to justify.
