A must stop whenever I'm in PA, and Of course I order one from Pat's and one from Geno's,
I've been coming to Pat's for decades now, and it's always consistent. I like it waaaaaay better than the flashy place across the street.
I love how the meat is chopped, and well assembled, easy to eat, and delicious.
Knowing what you want is half the battle, as they take your order and it's ready in a short time.
The pizza fries are great, however I don't like that they were pre fried, and sitting in the window. I get it you're trying to be quick and feed many people in a short amount of time, but I would rather wait 5mins for hot fries. On top of that the employee gave me an attitude when I said I changed my mind that I didn't want them.

Cheesesteak! Enough said. What a fantastic place. And it was right across the street from Geno's. The meat was plentiful; the cheese wiz was tasty; and the bread was fantastic. I took a Lyft from Independence Hall to get there so I would not have to deal with the parking. Glad I did.

This place is a step up from Gino's but, that is not saying much. They rank 8 out of the 9 places we have tried so far. We have been so far to Jim's, Shay’s Steaks, Dalessandro's, Ishkabibble's, Woodrow's, Pat's, Jays steaks, Shanks, then Gino's.

Found this soon-to-be century old shop when googling what to do in Philadelphia. It is a must try when you are in Philly but do keep your expectations low. Ordered the cheesesteaks and the mushroom cheesesteaks but they were a bit heavy. Overall we feel that the food is a bit pricy. It was a good experience but I definitely will not visit again. The neighbourhood where this shop is located has a very chill vibe and suggest go explore this area if you have the time.

This place is legendary & keep in mind that the reason you visit is the experience as the service is a bit prickly if you don't know how to properly order.
We got a "Whiz Wit," which means nacho cheese with fried onions for $16. (Note: The fries are ordered and paid for at an entirely separate window.)
It was a solid cheese steak, but I think for me, more than half of one would be asking for a belly ache.
I didn't try Geno's (the competition across the street). I trusted my guide that Pat's was the way to go.
The real neon promoting both places is fantastic.
