Review
We had a fantastic dinner at Union Oyster House, and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, we could feel the rich history of the place, which added so much charm to the evening. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was just as wonderful-our server was excellent, a really kind and attentive man who made sure we had a great time.
As for the food, everything was tremendous.
The oysters are an absolute must-fresh and delicious. The lobster roll was perfection, buttery and full of flavor, and the soup was the perfect comforting start to the meal. One of the highlights was their exclusive homemade Sam Adams ale, which was outstanding-smooth, flavorful, and a perfect pairing for the seafood.
Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit, whether you're a local or just passing through.
We'll definitely be back!

We didn’t have reservations and had to wait a little over a hour. But the bar was fun with strong drinks. Of course the oysters and clam chowder were amazing. The mussels and the scallops were above average. The best was the Lazy Man’s Lobster—so rich and delicious. Great atmosphere in a historic area!

After hearing the history behind this restaurant during our tour bus around Boston, we knew we had to make a stop by. Arriving around mid-day, we were a little shocked to see a nearly empty restaurant especially on a Friday. Nevertheless, we were excited to try this restaurant.
Starting off with their Cold Seafood Platter, this came with two oysters, two cherrystone clams and three shrimp. All three components of this starter tasted fresh. The only thing I wasn't able to find information on are the type of oysters that the restaurant offered including on the ones on the platter.
The next thing we had to try since we had a hard time finding in Boston oddly enough, are Boston baked beans. We were delighted to see they offered them on their menu at $9 for this starter. Upon trying, I truthfully think they tasted like any other baked beans I've had from the can. I couldn't distinguish what made them "Boston" baked beans.
Onto mains, I ordered myself their hot lobster roll which came with fries and coleslaw. I found the lobster to be tender, succulent and paired nicely with melted butter. The bun itself was toasted nicely, and the fries weren't ordinary fries, they were thicker cut, crispy and hot. As for the coleslaw, I found this to be very tasty and not overly saturated with mayo or seasoning.
The fish tacos were also ordered which we were informed was with cod. We were given the choice between grilled or fried, and fried we opted in for. There was a very generous portion of cod per taco, and they were fried perfectly. Crispy on the outside and very flakey on the inside. This was a very delicate fish that oozed freshness. Paired perfectly with the same coleslaw from my lobster roll, with a sweet and spicy sauce that paired really well with the overall dish.
For dessert, we knew we had to try a Boston cream pie, and what better place to get that than here. Having never tried a Boston cream pie and being a huge dessert fan, I couldn't say this was for me. The pie itself tasted bland as if it's been left in the fridge for too long. The cake was dense and oddly I enjoyed the whipped cream more than the pie.
We both agree the service was spot on and her hospitality and professionalism elevated our experience. The atmosphere itself was one of a kind and memorable.
Overall, a great experience but wouldn't be the first place I would go for oysters as there's no list to choose from as other restaurants would provide along with their descriptions. As for their seafood entrees, I would gladly return for those and look forward to trying others.

I couldn't miss coming to the oldest restaurant in Boston, open since 1826!
I got here early (11.30 on Sunday) as I'd read how busy it gets. It was nice and quiet when I arrived, so I was able to have a good chat with the servers about the menu. I decided on the Oyster House Clam Chowder, served with crackers, followed by the Cold Seafood Sampler. The Clam Chowder wasn't hot, but the taste was really good. The cold seafood sampler was excellent. It was served with horseradish, and the servers suggested I try the oysters with a little lemon and hot sauce, which was very good.
I had a glass of Sam Adams with my meal. They suggested I sample them before making my choice, which was helpful as they were so different.
Overall, I had a nice experience here, and the servers were great.
It's definitely worth a visit.

Had a great experience here dining with my wife for dinner. It's such a nice, historic restaurant and you feel that once you walk in. Our server Christine was excellent, really nice woman and the food was tremendous. Definite must-haves are the oysters of course, but also the broiled scallops, hot lobster roll and Boston Cream pie for dessert. Their exclusive Sam Adams colonial beer was absolutely terrific, great notes and flavor.
